An important part of any air conditioner unit is the fan. It blows your beloved cool air out of the unit and into the atmosphere. Unfortunately however, there are a number of things that can happen to your fan and cause it to stop working as it should. We want to show you what these very common AC fan problems are.
• It could be a problem with a defective dual shaft or circulation fan motor. It has two fan blades on each side of the motor, with one drawing in outside air and with the other one directing air over the evaporator coil. Simply wiggle the motor shaft to see if it’s loose or if it just won’t turn, then you need to have your AC fan motor replaced.
• It may also be a problem with worn out fan motor bearings. You need to turn the blade by hand to see if it will turn freely and if it doesn’t, then it may be that your motor bearing are worn out. See if the blade turns freely, to test the incoming power for the fan motor and if it won’t run, then you need to replace it.
• It may even be an issue with a problematic relay board. An improperly functioning relay board might cause the fan not to work. Also, keep an eye open for a fan motor capacitor and fan motor that’s not working properly, because they can affect the fan as well.
